Artwork information "Glory Couple"
Silviya Radeva is from Bulgaria and has studied painting and print making in both Bulgaria and Venice, Italy. Now her art practice is based in London.
The dark tones of Radeva's paintings imbue a sense of mortality. Using objects associated with memories such as clothes, jewellery and chairs once belonging to someone, now isolated and alone in a mysterious dark and undefined space to symbolise individuality and loss. Memory and symbolism has continued in her most recent body of work ‘Portrait of a heart', the heart symbolising life from the first resounding rhythms of our mother’s heartbeat to the plethora of emotions we feel throughout our lives. The cloaked figures, detailed symbols and gold leaf used in this collection reference religious icons and heighten their sense of significance.
Radeva has exhibited in the Bulgarian Embassy, London and has been recognised in the National Awards of Allianz Bulgaria and International Biennial of Engraving, Italy. Her artworks feature in private collections in Bulgaria, Italy and the UK.
