Artwork information "Curracloe Sky II"
Ann Marie Bridges is an Irish artist based in Wicklow who studied Fine Art at Dun Laoghaire College of Art & Design in Dublin.
After graduating Bridges travelled extensively experiencing first hand the beauty of changing light over vast landscapes. Inspired by capturing the contours of light and seasonal hues, the form, energy and movement of her environment. Bridges connection with nature and its influence on emotional well-being have kept her exploring compositions from fine details of branches to broad skies, rolling hills and waves. The vibrancy of colour, which has come into her oeuvre you could say, is a commentary on environmental changes and the impact of pollution. Whether toxic or heightened auras the intense colour adds yet another layer, emotive and sometimes unexpected, to challenge the viewer. There is a sense of joy at the power of nature and life itself expressed in colour, light and mood that comes from Bridges expressive works that span the fields of abstract and landscape painting. To continually see the world afresh and take the time to absorb inner feelings and the natural world are key to Bridges art practice.
Bridges has artwork in private collections across Europe and with The Desmond, Treasury Holdings and AIB collections in Ireland.
